Project Description
10-Hour SST Worker Bundle
Together, the 8-Hour Fall Prevention and 2-Hour Drug and Alcohol Awareness Trainings meet the NYC DOB regulations for Site Safety Training (SST) for individuals who have OSHA-30. This registration packages both courses to be taken in one day.
FALL PREVENTION TRAINING
One of the most common causes of construction worker injuries are falls. The teaching faculty at Andromeda Academy is unparalleled in their scaffold expertise. This knowledge is applied to teaching the basic components of fall protection safety. Students will learn how to avoid accidents and injuries during work on scaffolds, roofs, edges, and scaffolds. Students will learn how to install safety gear and fall prevention systems.
Learning Outcomes
At the end of this course, students will be able to:
- Identify fall hazards and proper safety equipment
- Interpret OSHA and DOB regulations
- Pinpoint employer requirements to protect workers from fall hazards
DRUG AND ALCOHOL AWARENESS
According to the National Survey on Drug Use and Health the construction industry has the highest rates of workplace drug use. Substance abuse is a factor in 35 percent of workplace injuries and fatalities, 35 percent of all absences, 38 percent to 50 percent of all workers’ compensation claims and 40 percent of thefts. Substance use is only increasing those risks, which affect overall job safety, and work efficiency. The courses goal is to address substance and alcohol abuse and focus on educating workers on safety and productivity hazards created by the abuse of alcohol and other drugs in the workplace.
This training may be delivered as a stand-alone seminar or offered through an integrated approach with other industry appropriate subject matter.
Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Describe adverse effects of drug and alcohol in the workplace
- Recognize problems associated with substance
- Avoid working while under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol and be less susceptible and better at recognizing, avoiding and preventing (RAP) adverse consequences of drug and/or alcohol use and abuse.
- Recognize and understand issues of chemical dependence that may adversely affect the lives of others who they know and love.
