4-Hour Forklift Training

This training helps forklift operators meet OSHA forklift training requirements while keeping both operators and pedestrians who work in the vicinity of forklifts safe.

Prerequisites There are no prerequisites needed to attend this course. However, students must be able to verbally communicate with the instructor in the primary language of the training.

To successfully complete this training, all participants must pass a practical (hands-on) assessment on the specified equipment at their employer’s facility.
Learning Outcomes At the end of this course, students will be able to:

  • Identify the various kinds of forklifts and their basic controls.
  • Explain what to look for when performing a pre-use inspection.
  • Describe how to safely operate a forklift.
  • Discuss how to charge and refuel a forklift.
  • Discuss how to handle modifications to a forklift.
  • Recognize when maintenance is required.
  • Explain different operating techniques with specialized units.
  • Discuss how attachments alter the safe operation of a forklift.
  • Explain best practices for working and walking by forklifts.
Course Audience Personnel who operate or work in the vicinity of forklifts. Refresher course is required every 3 years.
